This is a working diary about how we helped 2 customers with factory visit quality control inspections, to get all their labels (FNSKU barcode labels, AWD barcode labels, UPC barcode labels, 3pl shipping labels, and customized shipping labels), correctly done.
It was a 2-day inspection work and a growth journey, although the weather was very hot, but we still finished the work! With dozens of styles and hundreds of products, how did we get the job done efficiently?
Before we went for the inspection, we made a suitable strategy.
Preparation Before Departure:
In the preparation stage (before departure), we first determined the product information (including the number of styles, product number, number of boxes, etc.), and then print the label stickers, and classify them, one of the labels with an clear bag, and in accordance with the order of the documents marked with the number, so as to facilitate the subsequent distinction.
The First Day: Get SKU (UPC barcode) labels, AWD shipping labels correct.
The first day we went to a warehouse located in Haining, Jiaxing City. This day’s task is very tedious, a total of 59 models of lamps and lanterns, more than 900 pieces of goods, is a big project.
Before this, we determined with the customer the number of boxes for each type of sampling. So we first count the total number of boxes of each model, and then randomly open the box for inspection, take photos, check UPC codes, check AWD box shipping labels, paste the AWD label correctly to cover a barcode at the same time.
We are a group of four people, so we arrange two people to inspect the goods and two people to affix the labels, which is very efficient. And as we expected, we finished the work on time.
Problems Found Out:
The tape on the outer box of some product packages is not tightly applied.
Some products have fuzzy barcodes;
Some of the outer boxes are broken;
All these problems did not meet the packaging standards, so we communicated with the factory and asked them to send back these problematic products for repackaging.
Second Day: Get FNSKU labels, 3PL shipping labels, and other shipping labels correct.
The next day’s inspection was in Tongxiang, Jiaxing city. The products were bedding items, totaling more than a hundred different pieces, but there were only one or two boxes for each item. So we needed to open most of them for inspection.
We also checked the Amazon FNSKU barcode label. Then we labelled the shipping labels accordingly.
In the process of unpacking, we found a large empty space in each box, actually the space for the products only took half of the box volume, this will add a lot of extra unnecessary costs.
The solution is – we cut all the boxes by 1/3, to save space and shipping cost.
Inspection Finished:
After finishing inspection, we reported to our customer then get all data saved in our system, for better carry out next inspection. This inspection work was done efficient, with good teamwork.
